Wayne Rooney has backed Tottenham Hotspur forward Mohammed Kudus to reach new heights this season following his explosive display against Leeds United in the Premier League.
The Manchester United legend believes the Ghanaian is fast establishing himself as one of the division’s most complete attackers.
Kudus, who joined Spurs in the summer, has already become a key figure under Thomas Frank, offering pace, creativity, and unpredictability from the right flank.
The 25-year-old has seamlessly adapted to life at North London, combining technical flair with a tireless work ethic that has transformed Tottenham’s attacking identity.
His standout performance at Elland Road last weekend underscored his growing influence.
Kudus set up the opening goal before scoring his first for the club, turning a tense encounter into a 2-1 win that kept Spurs within touching distance of the top four.
Rooney, speaking on BBC’s Match of the Day, lauded Kudus for his consistency and impact.
“I think he’s been a breath of fresh air, you look at the stats from the game, he’s first in everything, duels won, successful dribbles, shots, touches in the opposition box, sprints and he’s had a real impact for Tottenham this season,” he said.
The former England captain continued, “He’s got four assists this season, joint first in the Premier League; he’s by far had the most successful dribbles in the league.
"So, all that was missing was the goal. I think that goal will push him on that next step. He’s been a real top signing.”
Kudus’s influence extends beyond numbers. His composure, decision-making, and versatility have made him central to Frank’s fluid system, while his confidence on the ball has provided Spurs with an attacking spark reminiscent of their most dynamic eras.
As Tottenham chase silverware this season, Kudus’s ability to sustain his current form could be decisive.
