Two home-based players have earned places in Ghana’s 26-man squad for the final round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against the Central African Republic and Comoros.
Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare and Medeama midfielder Prince Owusu are the only representatives from the Ghana Premier League in Otto Addo’s selection for the decisive matches.
Asare, who made his international debut in March 2025, has since established himself as Ghana’s first-choice goalkeeper.
The 33-year-old has enjoyed a strong start to the new league season, keeping three clean sheets in as many games for the Phobians.
Owusu, meanwhile, has been rewarded for his consistency with Medeama.
The midfielder featured in 22 league games last season, contributing one goal and two assists, and has already made two appearances this campaign as the Mauve and Yellow chase another title challenge.
The Black Stars will travel to Morocco to face the Central African Republic at the Stade d'Honneur de Meknes on October 8, before returning to host Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on October 12.
Ghana currently leads Group I with 19 points and needs four more to guarantee a place at the World Cup in North America, which would mark the nation’s fifth appearance at the global showpiece.
