Black Starlets coach Prosper Ogum says Ghana will be ready to go toe-to-toe with hosts Côte d’Ivoire when they meet in the final of the WAFU B U17 Championship on Saturday.
Ogum’s side sealed a place in both the final and next year’s U17 Africa Cup of Nations with a 2-0 win over Nigeria in Tuesday night’s semi-final, their first qualification for the continental tournament in eight years.
Goals from Michael Awuli and Robinho Gavi in the first half secured victory for the Starlets, who will now face the Ivorians in Yamoussoukro.
The clash will be a repeat of the group-stage meeting between the two sides, which Côte d’Ivoire won 3-1.
However, Ogum insists Ghana will be a different proposition this time.
“It will be a different Ghana [vs Cote d’Ivoire in the final]. Our structure, mentality, and character will be different. They defeated us in the group stage, so we know what to do,” Ogum said after the game.
“We will prepare ourselves in terms of our mentality and character [for the final against Cote d’Ivoire]. Tactically, we also have to re-strategize to make sure that we meet them boot for boot.”
The final is set for Saturday in Yamoussoukro.
