Tyron Owusu gave FC Luzern the perfect start as his early strike set the tone for a 2-1 win over Basel at St. Jakob-Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Swiss-Ghanaian midfielder fired home in the 16th minute with a well-taken effort from outside the box, sending the Luzern fans into celebration.
Owusu, who has been consistent this season, played the full game and showed great composure in midfield. His goal was his first of the campaign after seven appearances, a moment that delighted both his teammates and supporters.
Basel pushed hard with possession dominance and more shots, but Luzern were efficient when it mattered. Dominik Schmid leveled for Basel in the 53rd minute, only for Lucas Ferreira to restore Luzern’s lead just three minutes later with a superb finish.
Despite Basel’s late pressure, Luzern held firm until the final whistle. The result keeps Luzern’s momentum alive, while Owusu’s standout display will give him confidence moving forward.
Luzern now shift focus to their next league game against Sion on October 4.
