
The King of the Ga State, King Nii Tackie Tsuru II, has joined forces with Major League Soccer outfit Columbus Crew to provide a pathway for young Ghanaian footballers to realise their dreams.
King Nii Tackie Tsuru II paid a working visit to the United States, where he met key figures at the Ohio-based club. The Ga Matse held discussions with the former MLS champions as part of his desire to provide an avenue for young talented natives of the Ga State to achieve to football goals.
The MLS club have reportedly agreed to recruit U12 players from the Ga community and prepare them for the big stage.
The collaboration is viewed as a huge step in bringing aspiring footballers from the Ga State close to fulfilling their potential.
Meanwhile, Columbus Crew has a long-standing relationship with Ghanaian players, with several footballers from the West African nation playing a role in the club's history.
In 2023, Yaw Yeboah scored the winning goal as Columbus Crew won the MLS championship and before him Jonathan Mensah captain the team to success in 2022. Other players from Ghana to play for Crew include former Ghana defender Harrison Afful, Lalas Abubakar, Ema Boateng and David Accam.
Currently, Derrick Jones, a Bantama native is on the roster of the club, helping them clinch a place in the 2025 MLS play-off.
