Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito credited his team's 5-3 aggregate triumph over Kwara United in the CAF Confederation Cup to careful planning and tactical adjustments.
Kotoko secured a 1-0 win at the M.K.O. Abiola International Stadium, building on their 4-3 victory in Accra.
"We knew they had experienced players," Zito said, highlighting his team's awareness of Kwara United's strengths. To counter this, Kotoko focused on denying their opponents space and time, a lesson learned from the first leg.
"We revisited the first leg and saw the space and time we gave them, and we worked on that," Zito explained. "When we denied them space and time, they couldn’t play us, so we must do that and search for the goal in the second half."
With this strategic approach, Kotoko sealed their spot in the next round and now prepare for a challenging encounter against Moroccan giants Wydad in October.
