The head coach of Bechem United, Desmond-Issah Botchway, has demanded more from his team’s defense following their 1-0 defeat to Heart of Lions in Week 3 of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
Speaking in his post-match interview after the loss, the coach argued that the sluggish attitude of his defense and a lack of concentration let his team down.
While he admits Bechem United gave his side a tough contest, the coach is of the view that the Hunters could have earned at least a point if the defense had stayed focused throughout the 9 minutes.
“We were well-determined for this game. We knew we were going to play a good side; we prepared very well, but unfortunately, it was tough.
“I think all departments did well except the defense, which was a little bit sluggish and lacked concentration. It is the lack of concentration that caused us this game,” Desmond-Issah Botchway said.
With two defeats and one draw in the first three matches of the new league season, Bechem United sit 15th in the Ghana Premier League standings.
Up next for the Hunters, they will host unbeaten Hearts of Oak in a Week 4 showdown scheduled for Friday, October 3.
