Interim coach of Bibiani Goldstars Yaw Amankwah has expressed his disappointment following their defeat to JS Kabylie in the CAF Champions League first preliminary round.
The Ghanaian champions’ debut campaign in the CAF elite club competition ended in disappointment after succumbing to a 5-0 loss to the Algerian side in Tizi Ouzou.
Goldstars went into the return leg with a 2-0 deficit, having fell short at the Accra Sports Stadium. In the return clash, JS Kabylie walloped the Miners 5-0 to seal a 7-0 aggregate win over their Ghanaian opponent.
However, Yaw Amankwah, who led the team for the crunch clash in the North African country has congratulated JS Kabylie for the win, while expressing displeasure with the scoreline.
“I will congratulate JS Kabylie for the win. They fought very well throughout the game, but the scoreline is painful. We didn’t expect such scoreline from the game but I think JS Kabylie did well” he said.
Goldstars’ continental adventure ends at the first hurdle, and they must now regroup and focus on defending their Ghana Premier League crown.
