Club licensing manager Esme Mends has reminded Ghanaian clubs of their responsibility to properly maintain their football pitches and facilities as the new season draws closer.
Speaking with concern, Mends revealed that his team’s first inspection after the league ended showed worrying neglect.
"From our first inspection if the league would have started early at the time we went there we wont have venues to play football on at that time. Because I saw a trend that after the league season everybody left their venue but for a few venues that had some constant maintenance but the rest you will go to a place the park has grown like a bush," he told Peace FM as monitored by Ghanasoccernet.com.
"So it wasn't pleasant, so I am expecting when we go back then things have changed. We have never had favoritism the club licensing regulations is such that sometimes the pitch is not the issues sometimes we will revoke your license or not allow you to play matches there.
"It will not be mainly because your park is not good maybe it is your dressing room issues or stadium surroundings the requirements are plenty not just the pitch. But of course the pitch is what we all see so that is the main issues so favoritism has never been part of club licensing,"
