Richmond Tachie waited patiently for his moment, and when it came, he made it count.
The German-Ghanaian forward came off the bench to round off Kaiserslautern’s emphatic 7-0 win over RSV Eintracht 1949 in the first round of the DFB Pokal on Sunday.
In front of away fans at the Karl-Liebknecht-Stadion, Kaiserslautern wasted no time setting the tone. Fabian Kunze opened the scoring inside 11 minutes, followed quickly by Mahir Emreli and Ji-Soo Kim. Daniel Hanslik added a fourth before the break, leaving the hosts overwhelmed.
Marlon Ritter struck early in the second half, Tobias Raschl added a sixth, and just when it seemed complete, Tachie rose highest in stoppage time. His well-placed header into the top corner, set up by Florian Kleinhansl, capped a perfect afternoon for the Red Devils.
It was a professional display from Kaiserslautern, who dominated possession and created chances at will. The team now shifts focus to their Bundesliga 2 clash against Elversberg on August 22.
