Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has hailed his teams 1-1 draw against Samartex as a beautiful game, praising both sides for their tactical approaches.
Speaking after the match at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena on Saturday afternoon, Ogum highlighted the contrasting styles of play on display.
I think it was a beautiful game. Both teams came in with two different approaches. They were trying to keep the ball and split the defense through penetrating passes, whilst we also tried to hold them and then go on the counter, he explained.
The Ghana Premier League leaders had to come from behind to secure a crucial point against the defending champions. Samartex took the lead in the 39th minute through Dramani Awuah, whose powerful low strike left the Kotoko goalkeeper helpless.
The home side controlled much of the first half, limiting Kotokos attacking opportunities.
Kotoko responded strongly after the break, with Kwame Opoku finding the equalizer in a well-worked move.
He later thought he had netted the winner, but his second goal was ruled out for offside. Despite the draw, Kotoko remain atop the league standings with 38 points.
