Aduana Stars General Manager, Takyi Arhin, has expressed sympathy for former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwesi Nyantakyi, stating that the circumstances leading to his downfall could have happened to anyone.
Nyantakyi was implicated in the 'Number 12' expos by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, where he was filmed engaging in unethical dealings.
As a result, the former CAF 1st Vice President faced charges of conspiracy to commit fraud and corruption. However, Ghanas High Court recently discharged him after prosecutors failed to present Anas as a witness.
Speaking on the matter, Arhin acknowledged the impact of the expos on Ghanaian football while also showing understanding toward Nyantakyis situation.
We are thieves but when you are not caught, you are not a thief. What happened to Kwesi would have happened to anybody, he told Citi Sports.
He further criticized how people react when one of their own faces trouble.
At when one of us is in trouble, we try to make mountains out of mould hill. As a human, we need to pardon our brother and moving forward, I think hes learnt a whole lot of lessons and I dont think Kwesi will get himself into that kind of activity again, he added.Following the release of the 'Number 12' expos, Nyantakyi lost his positions at GFA, CAF, and WAFU, marking a significant fall from grace in African football.
