Asantehene Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II has called on Ghana’s new Minister for Youth and Sports, Kofi Adams, to ensure fairness in player selection for the Black Stars.
During Adams’ courtesy visit, Otumfuo expressed concern over the decline of the senior national team, which he attributed to favoritism in player call-ups.
“The Black Stars have been disgraceful these days. You have to get the Black Stars on the winning track,” Otumfuo stated.
He emphasized the need for merit-based selection, urging the minister to prevent external influences from dictating player invitations.
“Make sure the technical team invites players who deserve to be in the national team. No other person should be allowed to bring their players to the team,” he warned.
Otumfuo’s remarks come as Ghana prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar next month, with fans eager to see a turnaround in the team’s fortunes.
