Frederick Acheampong hints at imminent return of Ghana Premier League
A member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council, Fredrick Acheampong has hinted that the Ghana Premier League could resume soon.The Ghanaian topflight wassuspended following the violence that erupted during the Matchday 19 game between Nsoatreman and Asante Kotoko at the Nana Kronmansah Park in Nsoatre.The clash led to the death of Kotoko fan, Nana Pooley.Speaking after a meeting between the GFA leadership and representatives of all 18 Premier League clubs on Thursday, Acheampong revealed that plans are in place to restart the competition.One of the agreements is that we will meet with the supporters leadership, and next week, we will have another meeting with all match commissioners. They know the protocols, but we need to refresh them. If no further issues arise, the league can resume the following weekend.However, Asante Kotoko has suspended all football-related activities and insists they will not return until justice is served.Meanwhile, six people have been arrested so far in connection with the death of Nana Pooley, including the owner of Nsoatreman FC, Ignatius Baffour Awuah.
