
Okwahu United Football Club began its 2025/26 Access Bank Division One League campaign with a vital away victory, edging WAFA SC 1-0 in Sogakope.
Abdul Salam Ocansey struck in the 77th minute to hand the visitors all three points, a result hailed as proof of the club’s resilience and determination. The win follows strong backing from the Paramount Chief of the Kwahu Traditional Council and principal bankroller, Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III.
Nicknamed Asaase Aban… Yente Gyae, Okwahu United, the traditional club of the Kwahu Traditional Council, have consistently challenged for promotion in recent seasons, finishing second and third in Zone Three. The latest result has renewed hopes of returning to the top flight.
Elsewhere, Port City FC extended their unbeaten run to 15 matches with a hard-fought 2-1 win over FC Nania at the Kukurantumi Ohene Park. Zakari Mumuni opened the scoring in the 4th minute before Jake Binney equalised for Nania before half-time. Eric Tibu netted the decisive goal in the 80th minute to secure the victory.
At the Tuba Astroturf, Attram De Visser and Accra Lions shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Jeff Dakpo put Lions ahead in the 20th minute, but substitute Christian Owusu Afriyie levelled with a superb strike in the 64th minute for the hosts.
