Gold export remains a powerhouse of the country’s economic growth, with that sub-sector alone making up 90 percent of mining exports, while other minerals like manganese and bauxite add to the mix.
The sector’s role in job creation cannot be overemphasized, as it supports thousands of direct and indirect jobs, especially in rural communities.
Ghana consistently ranks as the leading gold producer on the continent, even surpassing South Africa in recent years. The Mining & Minerals Convention will serve as a key platform to address the issues concerning the sector to further deepen its impact on the economy.
