The prestigious Outstanding Public Sector Personality of the Year Award was awarded to Professor Kwaku Appiah-Adu (PhD, FGA), a distinguished figure in the Republic of Ghana’s governance and strategic landscape.
Holding the esteemed position of Senior Policy Advisor at the Vice President’s Secretariat – Office of the President, Prof. Appiah-Adu stands as a beacon of excellence and leadership in his field.
The recognition of Prof. Appiah-Adu’s contributions came as part of the Ghana Entrepreneur and Corporate Executive Awards 2024, a testament to his exceptional dedication and impact on the nation’s development trajectory.
His remarkable achievements extend beyond his role as a Professor of Strategy, as he shoulders responsibility for Delivery and M&E (Monitoring and Evaluation) within the government’s hierarchy.
Prof. Appiah-Adu’s influence cuts across key sectors as he coordinates Ghana’s Energy Sector Recovery Programme and contributes as a member of various national committees, including those overseeing Ghana’s International Financial Services Centre, Digital Economy Policy, and the AfCFTA National Steering Committees.
His notable career spans decades, marked by pivotal roles such as founding Chairman of the Ghana Oracle Digital Enterprise Programme and Head of Policy Coordination, Monitoring and Evaluation at the Office of the President from 2002 to 2008.
Prof. Appiah-Adu’s influence transcends administrative boundaries, evidenced by his pivotal role in significant legislative endeavours, including Ghana’s Land Reform Project and the facilitation of Ghana’s Integrated Aluminium Development Project and Integrated Iron and Steel Development Project through Parliament in 2018/19.
Prior to his governmental tenure, Prof. Appiah-Adu served as the Dean of the Business School at Central University and as a consultant at PwC, further enriching his expertise in strategic management and policy formulation. His scholarly contributions are equally noteworthy, boasting numerous authored books and over 100 published scholarly papers, solidifying his reputation as a thought leader in his field.
Currently, Prof. Appiah-Adu’s impact extends beyond academia and government, as he serves on several boards within both the public and private sectors, providing invaluable insight and guidance.
