In a significant leap towards the future of telecommunications, Huawei, a global leader in information and communication technology (ICT) solutions, has launched three groundbreaking all-optical products aimed at accelerating the deployment of F5.5G technology.
Bob Chen, President of Huawei Optical Business Product Line, spearheaded the launch of groundbreaking products at MWC2024 Barcelona, marking a significant step towards the commercialization of F5.5G technology.
The unveiled products include the industry’s pioneer DC-oriented OTN product, OptiX OSN 9800 K36; the inaugural intelligent OLT product, OptiXaccess MA5800T; and the industry’s trailblazing FTTR X product, iFTTR OptiXstar F50, tailored for ultra-broadband backbone, 10G access, and all-optical smart home scenarios.
These three innovative offerings are designed to empower operators in constructing an F5.5G all-optical target network and expediting the development of 10G ultra-broadband capabilities. The OptiX OSN 9800 K36, OptiXaccess MA5800T, and iFTTR OptiXstar F50 collectively contribute to opening up the commercial applications of F5.5G.
In November 2023, ETSI unveiled the F5G Advanced Generation Definition. Huawei, in collaboration with leading global operators, has been actively engaged in F5.5G innovation and implementation. Key F5.5G technologies and products, including Wi-Fi 7, 50G PON, 400G and 800G backbone networks, and OXC, have gained widespread adoption. Recognizing the pivotal role of 10G connectivity in the proliferation of intelligent applications, numerous countries and regions worldwide have introduced 10G development plans and initiated the establishment of 10Giga Cities.
To propel the continued advancement of F5.5G, Bob Chen, President of Huawei Optical Business Product Line, emphasized the necessity for operators to construct an F5.5G all-optical target network that embodies the “1 3 4” core features amid the development of 10G ultra broadband. This approach centers around a singular network goal of achieving 10Gbps ultra broadband, supported by three essential network capabilities: 10Gbps ubiquitous access, a metro network with reduced latency to 1ms, and a backbone network achieving 99.9999% availability.
The architecture further entails four network components: a backbone network deploying 400G and 800G OTN to connect data centers, a metro network requiring 100G to COs, an access network utilizing 50G PON for homes and enterprises, and connecting at 10Gbps to individual rooms. This strategic framework underscores Huawei’s commitment to shaping the future of F5.5G connectivity by integrating cutting-edge technologies and fostering comprehensive network development.
Bob Chen, President of Huawei Optical Business Product Line, said, “2024 is the first year of F5.5G commercial use, and fixed networks will take a new leap forward. Amid the development of 10G ultra broadband, Huawei released three innovative all-optical products: DC-oriented OTN product OSN 9800 K36, intelligent 10G OLT product MA5800T, and FTTR X product iFTTR OptiXstar F50, helping operators build the F5.5G all-optical target network with “1 3 4″ core features, continuously broaden service boundaries, and advance the intelligent world.”
Huawei’s commitment to advancing telecommunications technologies is evident in these pioneering solutions, which are poised to reshape the landscape of F5.5G connectivity and bring about a new era in commercial telecommunications applications.
Huawei’s all-optical products leverage advanced technologies such as coherent optics, artificial intelligence, and cloud-based management, providing a comprehensive ecosystem for F5.5G networks. The company emphasizes that these innovations will not only enable faster and more reliable connectivity but also open up new possibilities for industries such as healthcare, education, and smart cities.
Other Huawei executives expressed their optimism about the impact of these products on the global telecommunications landscape during the launch. They underscored the importance of collaboration with industry partners and regulatory bodies to ensure a smooth transition to F5.5G technologies.
The unveiling of these all-optical products marks a significant milestone for Huawei and the telecommunications industry, signaling a bold step towards the commercialization of F5.5G technology.
As the world eagerly awaits the widespread deployment of these innovations, Huawei remains at the forefront of driving technological progress and shaping the future of connectivity.
