Professor Ransford Gyampo has thanked President John Dramani Mahama for his appointment as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Shippers Authority (GSA).
Following his appointment, some people took to social media to criticise him to the effect that he should have been neutral.
But in a Facebook post, he said “There can be no neutrality when one is tasked to help right what is wrong in the service of the NATION. Thank you President Mahama; and humbled by the many congratulatory texts. I’ll serve GHANA and remain the YAW GYAMPO that you all know.”
Prof. Gyampo, a respected academic from the University of Ghana’s Political Science Department, officially steps into the role, taking over from Kwesi Baffour Sarpong, who was appointed by the Akufo-Addo administration in December 2023.
His appointment was formally confirmed in a letter delivered by Dr. Calistus Mahama, Executive Secretary to the President.
According to sources, Mr. Sarpong has been directed to transfer his responsibilities to Prof. Gyampo without delay.
Born on March 31, 1977, in Accra, Prof. Gyampo brings a wealth of experience to his new position.
With two decades in academia, he is a Professor of Political Science and the Founding Director of the Centre for European Studies at the University of Ghana.
