
Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden has been crowned Footballer of the Year by the Football Writers’ Association (FWA), capping off a stellar season for the 23-year-old.
Foden’s impressive performances saw him score 24 goals and provide 10 assists in 50 appearances across all competitions for City this season. His contributions were instrumental in City’s campaign, earning him 42% of the vote for the men’s award.
The Englishman beat out competition from Declan Rice and City teammate Rodri to claim the prestigious accolade. His recognition marks the third time in the last four years that a City player has won the award, following Erling Haaland in 2023 and Ruben Dias in 2021.
Expressing his pride at receiving the award, Foden stated, “I’m immensely proud to have won this award.” He remains focused on finishing the season strongly and helping City secure more trophies.

In the Women’s Super League category, City’s Khadija “Bunny” Shaw secured the top spot, emerging as the top scorer with 21 goals in 18 games. Shaw’s remarkable performance led her to clinch the women’s award, adding to City’s triumphs in the footballing world.
Shaw expressed her gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing the honor of being acknowledged in such a manner. Her contributions have propelled City to a six-point lead at the top of the WSL table, positioning them strongly for further success.
