Residents in Kumasi under the supervision of the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District assemblies, embarked on a massive clean-up exercise to promote environmental cleanliness.
Enthusiastic participants cleaned up streets, markets and public spaces, demonstrating their commitment to improving the environment and promoting a healthier lifestyle.

Last Saturday’s clean-up exercise is part of efforts to ensure that the Ashanti regional capital is “spotless and presentable”, ahead of King Mswati III of Eswatini Kingdom’s visit to the Asantehene, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, from June 24 to 28, 2025.
King Mswati III’s royal visit to the Manhyia Palace is expected to deepen cultural and diplomatic ties between Ghana and the Kingdom of Eswatini (formerly Swaziland).
The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, joined the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives for Atwima Nwabiagya North, Offinso Municipality, Suame, Asokwa and the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly for the exercise.

He noted that as communities continue to work together to maintain a clean environment, the region can look forward to a healthier, more attractive and more sustainable future.
“A clean environment is essential for promoting public health, attracting investment and enhancing the overall quality of life. By taking proactive steps to maintain a clean environment, the Ashanti Region can reduce the risk of diseases, improve air and water quality and create a more attractive and sustainable living space for its residents,” the Minister stressed.
The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) with support from the Regional NADMO Directorate, provided logistics and coordination for the exercise.
