
The immediate past Minister of Education and Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe Constituency, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, has declared his intention to contest for the flagbearership position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He made the declaration on social media on June 18, a day after the party had announced that the presidential primaries will be held on January 31, 2026.
“With humility, conviction, and a resolute heart, I, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, declare my intent to run for the Flagbearership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), should nominations be officially opened by the party,” he announced.

Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum was born on 9th April, 1964 at Jachie in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
He holds a Master’s degree in Education Management from the University of La Verne, California, and a PhD in Educational Policy, Planning and Administration from the University of Southern California, and a post graduate Diploma in Teaching from the Chapman University, City of Orange, California, USA.
He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Land Economy/ Business Administration with a major in Real Estate from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana.
He is a Christian married with four children. In March 2017, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum was appointed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to serve as Deputy Minister for Education. He is the Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe Constituency in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
He is also part of the Advisory Board of the capacity Building Center School of Education and information studies, California, Los Angeles and High-Level Advisory Group for Mission 4.7.
