England international of Ghanaian descent Kobbie Mainoo has emerged as a transfer target for French giants Olympique Marseille.
Mainoo is seeking for a departure from Manchester United after falling down the pecking order at the club. The 20-year-old midfielder has yet to start a Premier League game for the Red Devils in the current campaign under manager Ruben Amorim.
With the English-Ghanaian youngster requesting for a loan move this summer, Marseille, who are keen on strengthening their squad has expressed interest to snap up Mainoo.
The talented midfielder wants regular playing this season as the 2026 FIFA World Cup tournament approaches.
Meanwhile, Manchester United have turned down Mainoo’s proposal, urging him to fight for a place in the current campaign.
Marseille are in the market for a midfielder as Adrien Rabiot is still not being reintegrated into Roberto De Zerbi’s squad. Despite expressing interest in Mainoo, it appears Manchester United have closed the door on the Ligue 1 side.
The 20-yar-old midfielder has been in the books of Manchester United since 2023, with his current contract expected to elapse in summer 2027.
Meanwhile, Mainoo has botched to sign a new deal with the Premier League giants, with his contract expiring two-year time.
