Former Ghana international striker Benjamin Tetteh was on target twice as NK Maribor were held to a pulsating 3-3 draw by NK Bravo in the Slovenian Prva Liga over the weekend.
The 26-year-old forward, who joined Maribor this summer to bolster their attack, showcased his trademark strength and finishing ability in a game that had plenty of drama from start to finish.
Maribor had gone into the break trailing 1-0 after Bravo midfielder Sandi Nuhanovic gave the visitors the lead in the 19th minute.
Ghanaian midfielder Eric Taylor, introduced at the start of the second half, equalised just two minutes after his entry.
The powerful striker put Maribor ahead in the 53rd minute when he was superbly set up by Orphe Mbina, calmly slotting home to make it 2-1.
Barely minutes later, Tetteh struck again, this time using his physical presence to finish clinically and extend Maribor’s advantage to 3-1.
Despite his efforts, Maribor could not hold on, as Bravo fought back with goals from Venuste Baboula (penalty) and substitute Rok Kopatin in stoppage time to snatch a dramatic draw.
Tetteh’s brace, however, was a reminder of his quality and importance to Maribor’s ambitions this season, as he continues to rediscover his scoring form in Slovenia. He has 3 goals in 5 league appearances so far.
