Ghanaian midfielder Eric Taylor grabbed his first goal for NK Maribor in their thrilling 3-3 draw with NK Bravo in the Slovenian Prva Liga over the weekend.
The 24-year-old, who joined the Slovenian giants this summer from Norwegian outfit Kongsvinger IL Toppfotball, needed just two minutes on the pitch to make an impact after coming on at the start of the second half.
Maribor had fallen behind in the 19th minute when Bravo midfielder Sandi Nuhanovic opened the scoring with a fine effort.
Taylor, however, restored parity almost immediately after his introduction, capitalising on an opportunity to score his maiden goal in Maribor colours.
Former Ghana international striker Benjamin Tetteh then turned the game in Maribor’s favour.
The towering forward put the home side ahead in the 53rd minute after being set up by Orphe Mbina, before adding his second goal shortly afterwards to hand Maribor a comfortable cushion.
But Bravo refused to give up. Central African Republic international Venuste Baboula reduced the deficit from the penalty spot with three minutes of normal time left, before substitute Rok Kopatin stunned the hosts by netting a stoppage-time equaliser to secure a share of the spoils.
Taylor has now registered one goal and two assists in seven appearances across the Prva Liga and UEFA Conference League, underlining his growing influence since arriving in Slovenia.
