Ghanaian striker Prince Kwabena Adu opened his account for the 2025/26 season as Viktoria Plzen drew 1-1 with Slovacko in the Czech First League on Saturday.
The 21-year-old struck in the 23rd minute, latching onto a long pass before holding off a defender and firing a low shot into the bottom right corner. His goal looked set to secure Plzen’s second win of the campaign until late drama denied them maximum points.
With one eye on Tuesday’s crucial UEFA Champions League qualifier against Rangers, manager Miroslav Koubek substituted Adu in the 77th minute. Plzen, however, conceded a stoppage-time penalty, allowing Slovacko to equalise and snatch a share of the points.
Adu will be hoping to feature in the midweek European clash as Plzen attempt to overturn a 3-0 first-leg deficit against the Scottish giants.
After a season disrupted by injuries that limited him to 16 league appearances and five goals, the former Bechem United forward is determined to stay fit and play a key role in Plzen’s domestic and continental campaigns.
