
Ghanaian football giants, Asante Kotoko, have reacted to the tragic loss of lives in the crash involving the Ghana Armed Forces helicopter Z9 in the general area of Sikaman near Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, August 6.
All eight persons on board the helicopter have been confirmed dead by the Ghana Armed Forces.
In a notice on its social media this evening, Asante Kotoko said the club mourns its cherished fans, Dr. Omane Boamah and former KMA boss Dr. Samuel Sarpong, who are among the lives claimed through the crash.
The Kumasi-based club further extended their deepest condolences to the families of all eight persons confirmed dead in the crash.
“Asante Kotoko SC mourns the tragic loss of our cherished fans, Dr. Omane Boamah and former KMA boss Dr. Samuel Sarpong, and six others in today’s Akrofuom plane crash. We extend our deepest condolences to their families and the nation. May their souls rest in peace,” Kotoko said in a post on X.

Persons on board the Ghana Armed Forces helicopter Z9 who died after the crash include Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
The passengers were Dr Edward Omane Boamah - Minister for Defence, Alhaji Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed - Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Alhaji Muniru Mohammed - Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Dr Samuel Sarpong - Vice Chairman, NDC and Mr. Samuel Aboagye - Former Parliamentary candidate.
