Bibiani GoldStars head coach Frimpong Manso says the club has begun psychological and tactical preparations for their debut appearance in the CAF Champions League.
GoldStars will represent Ghana in the prestigious continental competition for the first time after winning the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League title.
The club has since bolstered its squad with several additions ahead of what will be their biggest challenge yet.
Speaking to Joy Sports, Manso dismissed the notion that excelling in Africa requires assembling star-studded line-ups.
Instead, he believes building the right mentality within the squad is key.
“The moment you mention Africa, it’s like you need some special players. No, they are the same players,” Manso said.
“What we need is to orient their mindset. And that is what we’ve started to do, because you cannot go and then bring in the Maradonas or the Peles at this time.”
The former Ghana international, who guided GoldStars to their historic domestic title, believes that while experience matters, preparation and focus will determine how far his side can go in their maiden campaign.
GoldStars will find out their CAF Champions League preliminary round opponents on August 12 when the draw is conducted by the Confederation of African Football.
