Ghanaian midfielder Abu Francis has touched down in France as he edges closer to completing a summer transfer to Ligue 1 club Toulouse.
The 24-year-old arrived in Toulouse on Sunday night and is set to undergo a mandatory medical in the coming days before signing a permanent deal with the French side, effectively ending his time at Belgian club Cercle Brugge.
Abu attracted interest from several European clubs, including Turkish sides Basaksehir FK and Trabzonspor, while Burnley, Torino, and Genoa also expressed interest. However, after holding talks with the Toulouse manager last week, the midfielder chose the French top-flight outfit as his next destination.
He joined Cercle Brugge in 2022 and went on to make over 60 league appearances, scoring once and providing seven assists.
Abu Francis is a product of Ghana’s Right to Dream Academy and began his European career with FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark. He earned his first cap for the Black Stars in March 2024 and has since made five appearances for the national team.
An official announcement from Toulouse is expected once the medicals are completed.
