
Ghanaian winger Emmanuel Boateng registered his first goal for MLS outfit San Diego FC in their Leagues Cup game against Mexican giants Pachuca.
The veteran midfielder started a fightback for the Major League Soccer inaugural side after netting in the 88th minute but it was too late as San Diego lost 3-2 at the Snapdragon Stadium.
The 31-year-old, who has already made 11 appearances in the league for San Diego, met a perfectly laid cross from Aiden Harangi to also score his first goal for the club.
The Mexicans got off to a bright start after Victor Guzman opened the scoring in the 23rd minute for Pachuca.
Alexei Dominguez Figuerao doubled the advantage at the stroke of half-time before adding his second after the hour mark.
Boateng pulled one back with two minutes remaining before Luca Bombino reduced the deficit late in injury time.
The Ghanaian midfielder has been pivotal in San Diego's campaign, helping them to top of the Western Conference table.
