Police in the Ashanti region have arrested two men for allegedly kidnapping a 14-year-old boy at Kwamo near Ejisu.
The suspects according to police, demanded 3000 dollars from the family of the 14-year-old before his release.
The suspects, Charles Appiah, 38, and Mannaseh Fumeh, 29, were arrested Tuesday evening at Kwamo. A third suspect only known as Felix is on the run according to the Ashanti regional Police Public Relations Officer ASP Godwin Ahianyor.
Addressing Journalists Wednesday, ASP Ahianyor said Felix on March 24, invited the victim to the KNUST junction to give him a smart phone.
But Felix kidnapped the victim and locked him in a secluded building at an area known as Apatrampa. He later contacted the victim’s grandmother to demand a 3000 dollar ransom.
The victim on the 26th March, however, managed to escape from the abandoned building and started calling for help. A passerby saw him and alerted the Police, he was rescued and investigations led to the arrest of Appiah and Fumeh.
The victim according to the Police is doing well and has been taken to the hospital for checks.
