The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Felix Peprah Kyei (rtd), who served as IGP of the Ghana Police Service from 27th November 1979 to 6th October 1981, has been laid to rest today in his hometown, Agogo in the Ashanti Region.
Mourning with the family was the IGP/Mr. David Asante Apeatu and members of the Police Management Board and scores of police officers. Also sighted at the funeral were retired IGPs Mr. Ernest Owusu Poku, H.E. Nana Owusu Nsiah, Mr. Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan and Dr. John Kudalor. Members of the National Association of Retired Officers (NARPO) and Police Wives Association were also present.
Born on 16th January 1940 in Ghana, IGP Kyei (rtd) was recruited into the Ghana Police Service on 7th July 1965 after graduating from the University of Ghana. By dint of hard work, he rose through the ranks, serving variously as District Commander, Directing Staff, Staff Officer, Regional Commander, Schedule Officer and the ultimate position in the Service, was appointed the by the President, Dr. Hilla Limann on 27th November 1979. He retired voluntarily on 6th October 1981 at the age of 41 but continued to keep ties with the Police Service, offering his advise, time and services whenever needed.
IGP Kyei (rtd) died on 30th November 2018. May he rest in peace.
