A man was nearly lynched at Takoradi Wednesday morning after his estranged wife accused him of kidnapping his own children.
The Ghanaian man who had expressed his intention to walk out of the marriage with his Sierra Leonean wife, had gone to pick his children from their mother, when an alarm was raised by the woman that the children, all female, were being kidnapped.
According to Empire FM’s Emmanuel Ohene Gyan, the angry mother hired a taxi and pursued the vehicle on which the husband was traveling with the two girls while shouting that the children were being kidnapped.
A mob reportedly accosted the car and nearly lynched the husband but for the timely intervention of the police.
The matter has been taken to the Effiakuma police station while the mob with clubs has besieged the station.
The development comes in the wake of the kidnappings in Takoradi. So far, the three girls who were kidnapped in the area over the last four months have not been found.
Meanwhile, the Western Regional Police Command led by DCOP Redeemer Dedjoe has instituted a committee to investigate claims being made by the Nigerian Kidnapper , Samuel Wills that he was aided by a CID to escape from lawful custody.
Revealing the details of the move, the Regional Public Relations Officer DSP Olivia Adiku revealed in an exclusive interview with Empire News said that the investigators have hit the ground running as they are in Takoradi gathering information.
She said the police is committed to meeting the one-week deadline given them by His Lordship Michael Ampadu which ends on Monday, February 18, in a bid to unravel the mystery surrounding the escape of the alleged kidnapper.
DCOP Adiku said the police officers who were on duty when the alleged kidnapper escaped from cells are currently being investigated.
