In the spirit of giving and sharing this yuletide, Vodafone Ghana Foundation on Friday, December 21 donated an amount of Gh¢2,000 and assorted items to the New Life Home, in the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi.
The donation to the children’s home, according to Vodafone, is to celebrate the love and joy of Christmas with the less fortunate and also deliver on its corporate social responsibility of giving back to society.
The Ashanti Regional Zonal Sales Manager for Vodafone, Jonathan Mensah on behalf of the Vodafone Ghana Foundation donated 4 packs of sanitary towels, 4 packs of toilet rolls, 2 packs of baby diapers, a sack of washing powder, a pack of antiseptics, 2 boxes of soap, 2 boxes of tinned tomatoes, 2 boxes of sardines, a poly of beans, a poly of gari, 5 tins of Lactogen 1, a pack of corned, 5 litres of cooking oil, sachets of Milo and four pieces of bread.
Similar donations were replicated across the country by Vodafone Ghana staff.
Speaking to journalists, Head of Corporate Communications at Vodafone Ghana, Ebenezer Amankwaah mentioned that: “This is collaboration between our Foundation and employees to give back to society and bring smiles on the faces of these children; as we prepare to celebrate Christmas which is really about sharing.”
“In Accra we’re going to two places which is Pokuase and Teshie. We have two places in Wa, and then one in Central, Eastern, Ashanti, Brong Ahafo and Volta regions. We’re giving basically food items, provisions of all sort and a cash donation of Gh¢2,000; just to give it some good effect, as they prepare to celebrate”, he added.
In 2009, the network provider launched its philanthropic arm, the Vodafone Ghana Foundation to undertake projects that “drive social change, improve people’s lives and solve pressing social needs.”
The major initiatives include the Healthline, Instant Schools and Charitable Donations.
