Bereaved families and victims of the Foase security-services brutalities can finally see some glimmer of hope as government is paying all medical bills of the affected victims today.
Four people died with over thirty others sustaining life threatening injuries in February this year, when security personnel fired live bullets at demonstrators protesting the removal of the district capital from Foase to Twedie.
Governments committee carrying out implementation of the investigative committee’s recommendations is also meeting chiefs and families of the deceased ahead of a state funded funeral slated for the 13th of this month.
Chairman of the committee and deputy local government Minister Akwasi Adjei Boateng told Ultimate News’ Ivan Heathcote Fumador, “We are meeting the chiefs and all those who have some claims for medical bills at the RCC today. We have vetted the medical bills and if you look at the individual bills, there doesn’t appear to be too many problems so the medical bills will be paid today.”
He added that beyond the full payment of the funeral expenses of the bereaved families some compensation will later be advanced to the families for their loss.
