The former President John Dramani Mahama has expressed hope that the dramatic events of November in Zimbabwe will serve as a reboot for democracy and prosperity.
He described as a ‘sad ending’ for President Robert Mugabe saying history will remember him.
‘A sad ending for a liberation hero, a patriot and a great Pan Africanist. I pray the dramatic events of November serve as a reboot for democracy and prosperity in #Zim. History will remember Comrade Mugabe kindly,’ he tweeted.
The 93-year old President resigned on Tuesday after being held under house arrest.
The military last week took over power after Mr Mugabe sacked his Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
There was wild jubilation in the country after the takeover and his resignation from office.
He had earlier refused to step down. His decision to resign came in after the legislature started processes to impeach him.
