Accra Hearts of Oak head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has admitted that every game poses a challenge for his team due to the struggles they faced at the start of the season.
The Phobians endured a rough beginning to the campaign, but Ouattara has since managed to turn things around, steering the team back to winning ways as they head into the second round of the Ghana Premier League season.
According to Ouattara, the team’s primary focus is now on securing three points from every match, despite critics labelling them as the weakest team.
For now, we need to target maximum points from every game. We don’t want to see a repeat of last season when we struggled because we didn’t have enough points. Some people say we have the weakest team, but we keep playing. Every match is a challenge for Hearts of Oak
The Phobians recently secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory at home against relegation-threatened Legon Cities in Week 16 of the Ghanaian top-flight league.
What’s next for Ouattara and Hearts of Oak?
Ouattara has his sights firmly set on claiming the Ghana Premier League title for the Phobians. Under his guidance, Hearts of Oak have enjoyed an impressive run, winning six out of their last eight matches in the league.
This strong form has lifted them to fifth place on the table with 28 points, just two behind league leaders Heart of Lions. They are also tied on points with their archrivals, Asante Kotoko.
Up next for Ouattara and his team is an away fixture in Samreboi against defending champions FC Samartex, a game that promises to be another stern test for the rejuvenated Phobians.
