

The West African country says it won't allow any increase in the number of government cars as it seeks to cut down cost.
The number of buses and goods vehicles in Ghana are allowed grow but the growth cap for government luxury vehicles have been decreased, that is according to Ghanaian local news agency CitiFM
Ghana, one of the places in Africa where car ownership keeps increasing has limited government luxury cars from 43 to 34 but vowed to expand public transport.

The drop in the number of the vehicles has seen the West African country save three million dollars following the purchase of 34 cars for the presidency, which is a reduction from the initial contract for 43 cars.
Though these cars were procured by the erstwhile government in 2016, it was received over the weekend.

Although the initial number of cars ordered was forty three [43], the new government attempted to abrogate the entire contract but failed because of certain clauses in the contract.
Hence the need for a re-negotiation which has saved the West African country millions of dollars.
“We could not abrogate the deal, but the company saw the need for re-negotiation and we were able to make such a huge profit for the country”. The reduction in the number of vehicles to 34, consequently reduced the initial cost of 9 million dollars by about 3 million dollars," StarrFm reports.
