Miss Ghana Allegations: We’ll investigate Miss Ghana saga - Creative Arts Council

The President of the Creative Arts Council, Mark Okraku Mantey, said "If it is true, we are yet to hear the other side of Inna Mariam Patty.”

The President of the Creative Arts Council, Mark Okraku Mantey, has disclosed that they will investigate the controversy surrounding the Miss Ghana beauty pageant.

This follows allegations by a number of former winners of the Miss Ghana beauty pageant who revealed how they were used as sex baits to raise funds.

Stephanie Karikari, Miss Ghana 2010,  Antoinette Delali Kemavo, Miss Ghana 2015 and Giuseppina Nana Akua Baafi, Miss Ghana 2013, spoke about exploitation, verbal and physical abuse and being used as sex baits by Inna Patty, the current owner of Miss Ghana’s franchise holding company, Exclusive Events Ghana, to raise sponsorship.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Exclusive Events Ghana Limited Inna Patty has denied the allegations.

However, in what seems like her response to all the allegations, she threatened to sue and media house that continues to publish such stories against her.

The Council has indicated that it is taking steps to keep the standard of the brand even as they investigate the matter.

Speaking on Accra-based Hitz FM, Mark Okraku Mantey said they will hear both sides and then take steps to prevent such issues in the future.

“…the fact that one side has spoken doesn’t mean it is true but if you tell a young lady as young as 21 years to generate ?10,000 a month, indirectly, you are asking her to do something that is not right to get the money…I would say it is unethical. If it is true, we are yet to hear the other side of Inna Mariam Patty.”

Mr Mantey, however, noted that the Council is yet to get in touch with the organizers to get their side of the story.

He explained that “it is actually not my job now to get in touch with her. It is only prudent for her to defend her brand…”

The Miss Ghana pageant has been in existence since 1957 and has gone through lots of management and structures. It is now being organised by Exclusive Events Ghana Limited run by Inna Mariam Patty.
