

Joshua Ekow Sagoe poses as an officer of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and Interpol who goes by the name Joshua Torkor and contacts his victims through social media platforms such as Facebook and WhatsApp.
A National Service personnel is in the grips of the police for a massive social media fraud syndicate.
According to Accra-based Starr FM, the suspect who is often referred to as Joshua Torkor but is actually called Joshua Ekow Sagoe turned himself in at the Police Headquarters after his accomplice was arrested.
Joshua Ekow Sagoe is said to pose as an officer of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and Interpol who goes by the name Joshua Torkor and contacts his victims through social media platforms such as Facebook and WhatsApp.

He threatens to publish intercepted confidential information of his victims if he succeeds in getting their attention, he then proceeds to make financial demands claiming that upon payment, he is able to influence the security agencies to back off.
Several unsuspecting people both in Ghana and abroad have been defrauded by Sagoe.
Sagoe demanded $4,000.00 from one of his victims.
The victim contacted Accra-based Starr FM and was told to deliberately refer the demand to his cousin here in Ghana.
Sagoe agreed and started engaging someone he did not know was part of the investigation team.
The News team requested that the suspect assigns an agent to receive the money on his behalf. He subsequently introduced a lady as his secretary who was to receive the money on his behalf.

The lady, Adwoa Akumia, a National Service Person met Starr News investigators at the front office of the Foreign Affairs Ministry to receive the money on behalf of Joshua Torkor.
Akumia’s National Service offer has been cancelled and sent back to the National Service Secretariat for possible re-posting.
The National Service Secretariat under the auspices of the Executive Director organized a meeting between the investigative team and the principal witness (Adwoa).
Joshua after Adwoa’s arrest voluntarily reported himself to the Police where he was arrested and subsequently charged with impersonation.
