Depressing: Mother arrested for dumping 4 babies in buckets filled with concrete and keeping them at home for 20 years

According to the 53 years old mum, her weak financial standing could not make it possible for her to look after the children.

A Japanese mum has handed herself to the police for dumping four of her kids in buckets filled with concrete and kept them in her apartment for two decades.

Mayumi Saito, 53 gave birth to the infants between 1992 and 1997.

According to the 53 years old mum, her weak financial standing could not make it possible for her to look after the children.

Authorities who searched her home found four concrete-filled buckets in her apartment and various scans show that each one contains what appears to be the remains of an infant.

Police are still interviewing the woman, who lives with her son, and trying to determine whether she killed the babies or whether they were stillborn, the report said.

'I did not think I could afford to raise them. I had no one to talk to,' she told police, according to Japanese national broadcaster NHK.
