

The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture is expected to hold a launch to reopen the site on Saturday.
The Kintampo waterfalls located in the Brong Ahafo Region will be reopened to the public and tourists on Saturday, November 18, 2017.

The launch will be attended by the Vice President Dr Bawumia, the Tourism Minister Catherine Afeku, the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister and the Chief Executive of the Ghana Tourism Authority.

Dr Bawumia ordered for the closure of the Kintampo Waterfall on March 2017.
This was after a severe rainstorm caused trees at the edge of the waterfall to fall on Visitors to the site.
The disaster left 18 people dead. Those who died are mostly students of Wenchi Methodist School.

After a visit to the site, the Tourism Ministry has rehabilitated the site to a level that enhances the visitor experience and ensures safety.
A new stairwell, an infirmary, new washroom facilities, an upgraded event grounds, three new souvenir shops, a museum and a new changing room are part of the enhanced features at the site.
