Two people have been reported dead and several others left injured after a vehicle reportedly crashed into a large crowd of Muslim worshippers at the Eid-El Kabir prayer ground on Friday, September 1, in Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State.
Daily Post reports that the driver of the vehicle is said to have lot control.
According to the reports, an angry mob quickly descended on the driver of the vehicle whose identity has been withheld.
The driver was reportedly rescued by policemen at the scene of the accident.
The Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said that one of the deceased was a police officer and an orderly to a Divisional Police Officer.
He stated that “immediate investigation has commenced”.
Daily Post reports that one of the policemen identified as, Joseph Adejuwon, was mobbed to death during an attempt to save the driver's life.
