On Tuesday night, William Agyapong Quaitoo resigned as the deputy minister of agric after he faced calls to step down from his job after he made disparaging comments against northerners.
A farewell message the resigned deputy minister of agriculture sent to his colleagues has been revealed - and in it, he says he resigned to bring peace and save the president from attacks.
He said: “Thank you all for your kind words. In addition to the sincere apology, I resigned to bring peace among all those who were offended and to save the President and the entire party from further rancour and disaffection.

"The party is bigger than any individual member. I pray for a better future for all of us. Good night."
On Tuesday night, William Agyapong Quaitoo resigned as the deputy minister of agric after he faced calls to step down from his job after he made disparaging comments against northerners.
He later issued an apology, retracting his ethnocentric comments.
The Peace Council also waded into the matter asking Ghanaians to forgive the resigned minister.

He faced calls from the minority in parliament, the Dagomba Youth Association, and some Ghanaians to quit his job.
