Captain of Team Youth FC still tips WAFA to win the league after his side beat the Sogakope based side 1-0 at home.
Jacob Lawerh was speaking to the media after he was awarded Man of the Match against title favourites West Africa Football Academy.
He was positive that despite his team beating WAFA, the Sogakope club was good enough to end at the summit of the league with five games to go.
He did first speak on his MVP award saying:
“I am delighted on winning the MVP award. As a player this shows that you are improving in the game."
Tema Youth are 14th on the league log which was bound to set them to relegation. The win took them above water to 12th. And Lawerh spoke about the importance of accruing these three points.
“I must say these 3 points are very vital point taken from WAFA. This win has indeed taken as up the league log and where we were lying before the start of this game week was very bad.”
He also spoke on how the coach has been good for the team amidst opinions levelled saying Coach Nii Odoom was not good enough for Team Youth.
“He is our coach and we give him maximum support. As a coach he is doing his best and it is just that things are not going well. I think we just need to improve and gradually we are doing that.”
Talking about WAFA's prospects of winning the league title in Ghana, he continued:
“I think WAFA can still win the league and they are a good side.”
Lawerh also spoke on change of role in the game.
"When the season started I was playing in the left wing and as the season wore on it changed. That was the formation giving to us and that was the best for me in this game.”
He then appealed to the fans to keep supporting Tema Youth ahead of the away game against Bolga All Stars.
"As they always do they support and pray for us. I am telling them to keep doing same and we would clinch the three points in Tamale to propel us through the rest of the season."
