Cristiano Ronaldo has divided opinion among the football world after his goal celebration in Real Madrid’s 3-1 win over rivals Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup.
The reigning world best player came on as a second-half substitute, and scored his side’s second goal, before being sent off for what the referee perceived to be a dive.

Zinedine Zidane’s side went into the lead early in the second half after a Gerard Pique own goal, with Lionel Messi leveling from the penalty spot with 15 minutes to go.
However, Ronaldo restored Madrid’s lead with a well-taken solo goal, before Marco Asensio put the result beyond doubt with a third.
Despite emerging 3-1 victors from the Camp Nou, Ronaldo’s goal celebration dominated the headlines after he appeared to mimic Messi’s celebration in the reverse encounter last season.

The Portugal captain took off his shirt and showed his name to the Camp Nou faithful – mocking the Argentine – before later doing his trade mark six-park show-off celebration.
