

Kotoko were involved in an accident after their Premier League game against Inter Allies and the vice-captain who was awake in the bus tells what actually happened.
Ghana Premier League club Kumasi Asante Kotoko were involved in an accident on Wednesday night following their defeat against Inter Allies.
The team was travelling from Accra to Kumasi where they are based when the tragic incident occurred around Nkawkaw in the Easter Region of Ghana.
Kofi Asare, the team’s Equipment Officer passed on in the accident with several players and the managerial staff injured.

Tributes have come from fellow Premier League clubs, Division One clubs and members of the Black Stars team as they sympathize with Ghana’s most successful football club.
Reports in the media have giving various accounts of what happened before the accident.
An eyewitness from the bus that involved in the accident, Eric Donkor who is Kotoko’s vice-captain gives an account of what happened in the tragic incident.

In an interview with TV3, Eric Donkor said:
“It wasn’t easy but God made us survive, we the players. Unfortunately, we lost a technical team member.
“I was sitting at the back of the bus when the accident happened. I wasn’t asleep. I was awake when it happened.
“We were overtaking one big vehicle not knowing there was a KIA car parked with fertilizer and we just run into it. There wasn’t any triangle or any symbol to show that there is a spoilt car there. So we just run into it and that caused the accident.”
Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s super clash with Accra Hearts of Oak has been officially postponed indefinitely due to the accident.
