Do people still care about pubic hair? In the admitted bubble of a Brooklyn social circle, I was under the impression that the days of worrying about a sexual partner’s pubic hair were over, replaced by a more blasé credo of "You do you."
But when it comes to porn, pubic hair seems to be very much on people’s minds—especially older folks.
Data released by RedTube reveals that the “bush” is back, as searches for the term are up amongst all demographics.
Those most likely to seek out hair are the over-65 crowd, who are 258 percent more likely to search for the term “bush” over “shaved.”
Confirming my anecdotal suspicions, users 18 to 34 are significantly less likely to search for either terms.
Still, “bush” is getting more play amongst all groups, with a 891 percent rise in searches among 18 to 24 year olds, 982 percent for 25 to 34 year olds, 1,126 percent for 35 to 44 year olds, and 1,147 percent for those older than 65.
If you want to break things down geographically—and why wouldn’t you want to divide the nation even more?—the term “bushy” is more popular in the Central and Western United States.
It’s most popular in Colorado ( 98 percent), Texas ( 76 percent) and Utah ( 86 percent).
And if you’re wondering which terms are combined the most often with hair types, you’re in luck, as RedTube has that data as well.
“Hairy pussy,” “hairy teen,” “hairy MILF,” “hairy ginger,” and “hairy bush” constitute the top five.
On the other end of the spectrum, the most popular is the wordy and questionably grammatical “shaving hairy pussy,” followed by “shaved” on its own and then “shaved milf.”
I think we’ve all now thought about pubic hair too much for the day. Swallow this data and go outside for a walk or something.
