Abdullai Alhassan: Meet the first Ghana Premier league owner cum player

Abdullai Alhassan, the owner of Bolga All Stars on Wednesday made the headlines when he became the first owner of a Ghana Premier League side to play as well during a league game

Abdullai Alhassan is a thirty-year-old (30) young man who owns Bolga All Stars and he is also the Chief Executive of Tamale Utrecht Academy.

He made history on Wednesday when he came on in the 65th minute to help his side earn a 3-3 draw against Accra Hearts of Oak in the Ghana Premier League match day 13 at the Tamale Utrecht Academy Park.

Alhassan who is the Northern Regional Football Association chairman started his football career in Tamale, before he joined Nania FC and then after played for Sporting Mirren.

The winger earned a lucrative contract to ply his trade abroad with Utrecht FC in the Dutch topflight league, but he was however loaned to a lower division side in the Belgian league.

Abdullai Alhassan who has had the eye to become a football administrator persuaded Utrecht FC to invest in an academy project in Ghana.

In 2011 the dream came through when a well established football development centre was put up in the Northern region to train young talents and he was made the CEO of the Tamale Utrecht Academy.

In March 2017 he took over financially stricken Bolga All Stars as the owner of the side and during the second transfer window he registered for the side.

And in Bolga All Stars game against Hearts of Oak on Wednesday, Alhassan Abdullai was introduced to help Bolga All Stars earn a 3-3 draw against Hearts of Oak.
