KLM Royal Dutch airline to resume flights operation in Liberia

KLM Royal Dutch airline has consented to resume flights operation in Liberia, more than 20 years after the company halted its flight operations in the west African country, a local airport management official said on Wednesday.

The airline reached the decision last Sunday following over six months discussions between its management and the Liberian government, Bako Freeman, head of the Liberia Airport Authority told Xinhua.

Upon its resumption of operations, the airline is scheduled to fly to Liberia three times a week, according to the official.

The airline’s operation in Liberia is expected to boost the aviation sector and ensure the creation of more jobs for the country’s citizens.

The airline halted its operations in Liberia in the 1990s due to the civil war that engulfed the country at the time.

“We, on our part, will ensure that all conditions that made them decide to come back to Liberia are maintained so that they can continue flying to Liberia,” Freeman said. Enditem
